Boone commits to UConn

Outstanding forward/center Josh Boone of Sykesville-South Carroll, Md/Colora-West Nottingham Academy, Md., is headed to UConn over Georgetown, Kansas, Virginia and Rutgers.

LaKeith Blanks, a Top 100 guard-forward from Laurinburg Institute, NC., has committed to Texas A&M over interest from George Washington, Temple and Memphis.

Top 100 junior college center prospect Yankuba Camara of Gambia, West Africa/Chester, Pa/Southern Idaho CC, Idaho/Liberty/Moberly CC, Mo., has chosen Miami-Florida. Camara, who originally signed with Fordham as a prep, also drew interest from Oklahoma State and UNLV.

Louisville, Maryland, Kansas, Arizona and Memphis lead the Early 2003 Top Classes.

Guard Demetric Bennett of Albany-Monroe, Ga., and forward Devon Pearson of Miami-Northwestern, Fla., committed to SMU.

Forward Shawn Hawkins of Pittsburgh-Schenley, Pa/Columbus State CC, Ohio, picked Long Beach State. He is the grandson of basketball legend Connie Hawkins.

Forward Sekou Lewis of Cleveland, Ohio/Brandenton-The Pendleton School (IMG), Fla., has committed to American.
