I am so excited. I called Nancy and the kids and told them. They were real happy. Danni is really excited, she is definitely Daddy's little girl. Things change so fast, we are now leaving on Tues or Thurs -- I am so pumped. We got the rest of the team in last night, so I am outa here.
I will definetly tell you if we are gonna make it to the Dallas game. Me and Danni would have a blast.
I really can't tell you how much this has meant to me. Being able to learn more about you and your family has really been great. I will shoot you an E-mail as soon as I get home and let you how things went. If you ever think you want to visit NM, and Holloman AFB, just let me know. I am an excellent tour guide and I can get you up close tour of the F-117 Stealth Fighter. I am gonna run, I have some outprocessing to do and I will talk to you soon.
Thanks for Everthing,
That was very cool of you to hang there a little longer and let you buddy "XXXX" go home, you're a good friend. Now the only question is ... does two weeks fly by or creep along? Hopefully it'll be here before you know it.
We did pretty well in the draft I think. The rookies had a mini-camp last weekend and the report was that we have a lot of athletes who will help us out on special teams and be great players in the future. Ernie (our GM) has done a great job of getting those kind of guys the last two drafts. Plus you add on the kid, William Joseph, from Miami and we have some solid depth at almost all of our positions. Now we just have to coordinate it, this is where coach Fassel earns his stripes.
Man, we should definitely stay in touch after you're back home, if you are planning on coming out to the Dallas game let me know. I'll get you and your family, or whoever you bring, sideline passes so you can come on the field before the game and see warmup and pregame stuff up close and personal. I'm so glad ESPN asked me to take part in this deal, I think it was good for me to have a perspective of life on the other side of the world during war time. But more importantly, I'm glad I have a new friend. Let's stay in touch and down the road sometime we'll get to meet face to face.
We got some Comm replacements in and I opted to stay a little longer and let him leave. I am going to miss him, he is a great friend, and helped me alot over here, but that means that I am one step closer to leaving. Now the good news. Looks like I will be out of here within the next 10-14 days. Not sure on a day, due to flights and the rest of the team coming in. We are so ready to go home.
Everyone is excited and the new crew seems to really have a handle on stuff. I am sure that we are leaving cause the commander is having us move into transit tents to make room for the new guys, so that seals the deal. We will be unemployed vagrants in 2 days...
What this e-mail is really about is to tell you THANK-YOU, tell you how much your e-mails and friendship has meant to me. This has been a very difficult deployment and I could not have done this without all of the support I got from you, my family and friends. I would like to stay in touch with you when I get home, if that's ok. And maybe from time to time we can share adventures. I am going to try and go to the Dallas game in December, so hopefully we can get together..
P.S. and a big THANKS to ESPN for making this all possible..
I'm finally getting settled in back here. Today is my day off, so I did laundry and I am catching up on some e-mails.
You're right about the War -- it is in the clean-up phase. There are rumors of leaving, but I am not getting excited until I am on the plane. Does no good to get your hopes up and then let down. Our Squadron should be all home by July. And as you would guess, I volunteered to stay till the end. A lot of folks have serious problems at home and need to get there to be with their families. Everything from babies on the way to sick parents and kids. Mine miss me and I miss them, but I know they will understand.
I am going to pick up a mug for your Mom & if there is anything else you can think of, just let me know. I am happy to do it. The more people that think good of the military the less protestors we will have. I will do what I can.
Hey, I think the Giants did great in the NFL draft. I would have like to nab a young QB, but that's alright, I think William Joseph, and Rod Babers are gonna make things happen. Do you guys (the players) get to put your opinions in or is it strictly a management thing?
Hey, I think we are getting to Danni. She wants to go see a game. Dallas is as close as you come to us, maybe we'll see you there!
Take Care and God Bless!
So, Vegas was fun. Ronde and I got a chance to meet Tiger at the Bon Jovi concert that he was holding for his foundation. That was cool, they're still going strong after 20 years, pretty impressive, we even went on stage for a couple of songs.
This is the big weekend for the NFL with the draft. I think we're going to have a good couple of days. We have a ton of leverage b/c we have 11 picks. It's always interesting following who we pick up, especially the 1st rounder. It's a guessing game b/c there are just as many 1st round busts as stars. There is a lot of pressure on those guys, internal and external, to come to a new environment and make a difference.
I'll work on that white jersey for you. I'll send it to your house though since I don't know how long it will take me to find it, it may not get to you before you leave in June. You know, I don't collect many things but my mom loves mugs. Any time we travel anywhere we pick up one for her so she has all these cool -- sometimes ugly mugs -- from all over the place, but I've never been to eastern Europe.
Alright, I'm gonna run. I hope all is well. Take care and God Speed.
