Time to overhaul All-Star rules?
Even the two extra roster spaces didn't seem to stop the controversial All-Star selections this year. Somebody named Lance Carter is "representing" the Devil Rays. Mike Williams -- the Pittsburgh closer with an ERA over 6.00 and more baserunners allowed than a slowpitch softball pitcher -- may qualify as the worst All-Star ever.
Jayson Stark says it's time to end the rule requiring every team to have a representative unless the team meets a certain requirement, such as being close to .500 or in the top 2/3 in attendance. What do you think? Should MLB keep the rule or adopt a certain requirement? Tell us what you think and give us some recommendations for the new rule.
