Decision on Stewart's role comes Wednesday
LAKE FOREST -- One day after his team suffered another poor offensive performance, Chicago Bears coach Dick Jauron is casting doubt on the future of quarterback Kordell Stewart.
Jauron says he will wait until Wednesday to announce whether Stewart will start Sunday's road game with the Seattle Seahawks.
Sixteen-year veteran Chris Chandler is Stewart's backup. Rookie first-round draft pick Rex Grossman is the third-string quarterback.
Stewart fumbled three times and was sacked three times Sunday, and completed 10-of-21 passes for 152 yards yesterday in the 20-and-13 loss to the New Orleans Saints. The Bears fell to 1-and-4 on the season.
Whoever quarterbacks will not know until Thursday at the earliest whether they'll have wide receiver Marty Booker available
as a target.
Booker sprained his right ankle on an end-around play. Jauron expects Booker to miss practice Wednesday and try to go on
