Harvard 43, Princeton 40 (OT)

BOSTON -- Garrett Schires threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Rodney Byrnes in overtime Saturday as Harvard rallied to beat Princeton 43-40 in Ivy League play.

Princeton had taken a 40-37 lead when Derek Javarone kicked a 36-yard field goal on the first possession of overtime.

Clifton Dawson ran for 185 yards and scored three touchdowns for Harvard (6-0, 3-0) but the Crimson had to rally from a 20-18 halftime deficit to keep its unbeaten record intact.

Schires dashed into the end zone from the 1-yard line at 8:41 of the third quarter to give the Crimson a 24-20 lead. After Princeton's Derek Javarone booted a 39-yard field goal with 5:05 left in the third to cut the margin to 24-23, Schires hit Brian Edwards with a 35-yard touchdown pass seven seconds into the fourth quarter to put Harvard up 30-23.

Jon Veach tied the game 30-30 on a five-yard TD run, but Dawson put the Crimson ahead 37-30 on a 1-yard plunge with 6:52 left. Matt Verbit then brought the Tigers back to 37-37 with a 43-yard TD pass to Blair Morrison with 3:24 remaining.
