Senior guard injures knee

Associated Press

ATHENS, Ga. -- Georgia senior guard Tina Taylor will likely miss the season after tearing a ligament in her left knee in practice.

Taylor tore her anterior cruciate ligament on Sunday and will need the fourth knee surgery of her career. She tore the ACL in her right knee in high school and has since had two additional operations on that knee.

"Seeing Tina endure yet another injury is painful for all of us," coach Andy Landers said Wednesday. "She was going to play an important role. She had worked hard in the past year, especially in the offseason, to get to that point."

Taylor, a fifth-year senior, was one of three Lady Bulldogs to play in all 31 games last season. She made five starts and played a career-high 36 minutes in Georgia's loss to Duke in the NCAA regional semifinals.
