Mills, Jones join Francona's staff

Associated Press

BOSTON -- The Boston Red Sox hired Brad Mills as bench coach and Lynn Jones as first-base coach on Friday and said three other coaches from last year's staff will return to work with new manager Terry Francona.

Mills went to college with Francona and worked with him with the Montreal Expos and Philadelphia Phillies. Jones had been a first-base coach with the Florida Marlins and Kansas City Royals.

Hitting coach Ron Jackson, pitching coach Dave Wallace and bullpen coach Euclides Rojas will return, as will former pitching coach Tony Cloninger, in a different role that has yet to be determined. The team is still looking for a third-base coach.
