Jacobs shared time with Williams, Brown

AUBURN, Ala.-- Auburn running back Brandon Jacobs has decided to transfer after one season with the Tigers.

Jacobs signed with Auburn out of junior college despite a backfield that already included Carnell Williams and Ronnie Brown. He rushed for 446 yards and three touchdowns last season, averaging 6.2 yards a carry.

The 6-foot-4, 270-pounder briefly moved to linebacker during bowl preparations, then returned to the offense.

"Brandon wanted to concentrate on playing running back and with Carnell and Ronnie returning, we agreed that he wouldn't get the playing time that he wanted," coach Tommy Tuberville said Friday. "We wish him the best."

Jacobs said he was considering "a number of different schools" in his search for more playing time. He did not get a carry in Auburn's last four games.
