Fitch to miss four to six months with injury
AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- Air Force quarterback Adam Fitch
will be out for four to six months after rupturing the Achilles
tendon in his right leg.
Fitch, who was listed as the first-team quarterback, was injured
during practice Thursday.
"This is a big blow to our program," said head football coach
Fisher DeBerry. "I know what kind of competitor Adam is and I know
he'll work hard to come back from this. This opens the door now for
some other players. Somebody will have to step up."
Fitch is the most experienced quarterback on the roster. He
played in six games last season as the backup to Chance Harridge,
rushing for 51 yards on 20 carries and completing nine of 14 passes
for 112 yards and a touchdown. He replaced Harridge in the
Northwestern game and rallied the team to victory.
Sophomore Andy Gray from Phoenix and freshman Luke Ewing of
Leslie, Mich., are now the top quarterbacks on the depth chart.
Spring drills conclude April 15.
