Kleine dropped as Arkansas radio analyst
Associated Press
LITTLE ROCK -- Former NBA player Joe Kleine has been dropped
from the broadcast crew of the Arkansas Razorback Sports Network.
A former Razorback, Kleine was replaced by Rick Schaeffer, the
school's former sports information director who was radio analyst
from the 1970s until the late 1990s.
Schaeffer joins Mike Nail, who is in his 24th year as
play-by-play announcer.
The network announced the decision Monday. It didn't say why
Kleine was removed. Network sales manager Todd Curtis declined
comment.
Kleine, of Little Rock, had started his fifth season as radio
analyst. He could not be reached for comment.
"A decision has been made to move in another direction on the
radio broadcasts, but we hope that Joe will continue to be a part
of our program whether as a television broadcaster or in another
capacity," Arkansas Athletic Director Frank Broyles said.
"We are grateful to Joe Kleine for the four years he has
contributed to the Arkansas Razorback Sports Network and for the
many years he has supported the Razorback program."
