Knee contusion bothers forward

Associated Press

Portland Trail Blazers: The Blazers activated forward Darius Miles from the injured list on Saturday.

Miles, who missed eight games with a bone contusion in his left knee, scored 12 points in the Blazers' 92-83 loss to Minnesota on Saturday night.

Miles injured the knee Jan. 5 against the L.A. Clippers. He entered the Minnesota game averaging 13.6 points and 5.1 rebounds in 29 games.

To make room for Miles, the Trail Blazers placed Ha Seung Jin on the injured list with lower back pain. The 7-foot-3 center played sparingly after being signed earlier this month.

Orlando Magic: Forward Grant Hill missed Saturday night's game against the Philadelphia 76ers with a bruised right wrist.

The Magic outlasted the Sixers 115-111.

Doug Christie started in place of Hill at small forward.

Hill injured the wrist Jan. 8, when he fell in a game against New Jersey. He is listed as day to day.

Hill is averaging 18.8 points and shooting 51.1 percent for the Magic, and had missed just one game this season. A bad left ankle sidelined Hill for all but 47 games the previous four seasons.

The Magic also were without reserve center Andrew DeClercq, who had the flu.
