MELBOURNE, Australia -- American Donald Young won the
Australian Open boys' title Sunday, beating top-seeded Kim Sun-yong
of South Korea 6-2, 6-4 to become the youngest player ever to top
the junior rankings.
"I'm really excited. I don't know what to say. I've been
wanting to win this for a while and it happened," Young, 15, said. "Maybe tomorrow when I see actually No. 1 by my name, then I'll realize it."
Young, from Chicago, was seeded second.
In the girls' final, top-ranked Victoria Azarenka of Belarus
beat 12th-seeded Agnes Szavay of Hungary 6-2, 6-2.
