Sharks' Toskala activated from IR

San Jose Sharks: The Sharks activated goaltender Vesa Toskala from injured reserve Saturday and sent goalie Dimitri Patzold back to their top affiliate in Cleveland.

Toskala, Evgeni Nabokov's longtime backup, injured his groin in a game against Dallas on Oct. 26, and Nabokov has been out since Oct. 21 with a shoulder problem.

Toskala is 0-3-0 with a 5.07 goals-against average and a .826 save percentage this season. Nolan Schaefer has thrived in his absence, winning five consecutive games.

Schaefer, who began the season in Cleveland, is fourth in the NHL with a 1.91 GAA. He posted his first shutout Friday night, making 21 saves in a 1-0 overtime victory over Anaheim.

Patzold dressed for three games, but didn't appear for the Sharks.

Phoenix Coyotes: The Coyotes claimed center Yanick Lehoux off waivers from Los Angeles on Saturday.

Lehoux, who has been playing in the Swiss National League this season, will join the Coyotes in Minnesota before Tuesday's game against the Wild. If he saw action, it would be his NHL debut.

The Kings drafted Lehoux, 23, in the third round in 2000.

He had five goals and four assists in 11 games with Swiss teams Geneve-Servette or Basel. Last season, Lehoux had 23 goals and 31 assists in 38 games with Manchester, leading the American Hockey League in goals and points before an injury curtailed his season.
