Teague transferring from New Mexico

Associated Press

ALBUQUERQUE -- Anthony Teague has announced that he will leave the University of New Mexico and the men's basketball team during the semester break.

Coach Ritchie McKay confirmed Teague was transferring, but he declined to comment further. It's not known where Teague will go.

Teague, a 6-foot-5 guard from Cleveland, came to New Mexico from Dodge City Community College in Kansas. He was a leading scorer for Dodge City but never got to show his stuff at New Mexico.

In October, he was benched for nearly a week of practices after McKay said they "weren't on the same page."

Teague played just eight minutes all season, seven of those coming during New Mexico's 95-42 win over Mississippi. Fans had chanted for McKay to let Teague play that night. He hit two of three from 3-point range and finished with 10 points.
