Davis said X-rays showed that White's broken foot hadn't progressed enough within the last two weeks.
"He's 99 percent out for the season," Davis said. "As it stands today, I'd say he's out for the season."
White, last year's Big Ten freshman of the season, broke his left foot in the preseason and was sidelined until Dec. 19. He played in five games, averaging 9.2 points and six rebounds for the Hoosiers before suffering a break in a different part of the foot.
The injury occured in his fifth game back, Jan. 9 against Ohio State. White met with the staff of Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala., to determine if he could return this season.
"He wants to come back," Davis said. "If this were December, then I'd say he'd be back but we've only got about three or four weeks left of the [regular season], so it doesn't seem like it's going to happen."
The Hoosiers will lose senior Marco Killingsworth after the season, which would allow White to replace Killingsworth as Indiana's primary post scorer in 2006-07.
Indiana (12-4, 4-2 Big Ten) visits Minnesota on Sunday.
