Oilers lose Moreau indefinitely after hoops mishap
EDMONTON, Alberta -- Edmonton Oilers assistant captain
Ethan Moreau picked an unfortunate time to get injured off the ice.
The Oilers on Tuesday placed Moreau on injured reserve with a
sprained ankle. He suffered the injury playing basketball
Monday and is out indefinitely.
Appearing in all 52 games this season, Moreau has nine goals, 15
assists and 65 penalty minutes. The left wing is tied with
Toronto's Matt Stajan for the league lead in shorthanded scoring
with four goals and seven points.
Edmonton is in third place in the Northwest Division and seventh
in the Western Conference with 62 points.
With the injury to Moreau, the Oilers have recalled left wing
Jean-Francois Jacques from Hamilton of the American Hockey
League. He leads Hamilton in goals with 14 in 42 games,
including a team-leading nine power-play tallies.
