Slaughter declares for draft, hires agent
SAN DIEGO -- San Diego State junior forward Marcus Slaughter has declared for the NBA draft and hired an agent, which eliminates any chance of him returning to school.
Slaughter also declared for the draft after his sophomore season before later withdrawing his name.
"There's no reason to come back," Slaughter told the North County Times of Escondido, Calif. "It wouldn't help me get to the next level if I came back. It can only hurt me. I made the decision based on that. This has been my dream, and now I have the opportunity."
Slaughter averaged 16.5 points and 11.0 rebounds this season, when he was a first-team All-Mountain West Conference selection. He helped the Aztecs go 24-9 and reach the NCAA Tournament for just the fifth time in school history.
He was MVP of the MWC tournament, scoring 49 points with a record 46 rebounds in three games.
