Stage: The fifth stage took riders on another mostly flat course
covering 139.8 miles from Beauvais, north of Paris, to Caen in
Winner: Oscar Freire, a Spaniard on the Rabobank team, in 5 hours, 18 minutes, 50 seconds. World champion Tom Boonen, a Belgian with Quick Step, was second, and Spain's Inaki Isasi of Euskaltel was third.
Yellow Jersey: Boonen retained the leader's shirt for a third straight day.
