Barron strikes out 12 as Mexico dominates Russia

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Josue Barron's stuff was close to unhittable.

Barron struck out 12 batters in a complete game and Jose Segoviano drove in four runs as Matamoros posted an 11-1 victory over Russia in Pool D action of the Little League World Series.

The game was halted after five innings because of the mercy rule.

Jorge Villafranca had two hits and Omar Zamora scored four times for Mexico (2-0), which had nine hits.

Barron struck out the first seven batters he faced. He allowed just a run and two hits while walking two.

Andrey Vesenev suffered the loss, yielding 11 runs -- four earned -- and nine hits in five innings for Russia (0-2), which committed seven errors.
