Yada follows Sato with more stellar pitching for Japan

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa -- Ryoya Sato is not Kawaguchi City's only stellar pitcher.

Seigo Yada struck out 12 batters without a walk as the Japanese squad defeated Matamoros, Mexico, 6-1 to stay undefeated in Pool D action at the Little League World Series.

Sato tossed a no-hitter on Saturday against Moscow, Russia, in the Asian champion's opening contest.

Yada fell behind, 1-0, after surrendering a first-inning homer to Jose Segoviano, the starting pitcher for Matamoros (2-1).

Kawaguchi City tied the game an inning later when Naruto Fukuyama walked, twice advanced on passed balls and scored on a wild pitch.

Ryota Koike began the third inning with a home run to right-center field and Yada followed with a blast to center to give Kawaguchi City the lead. Fukuyama added a three-run homer later in the frame to cap the scoring.

Kawaguchi City (2-0) will close out pool play against Willemstad, Curacao (1-1), the 2004 champion and runner-up last year, on Tuesday.
