Dixon died April 6 of heart arrhythmia at the age of 28, shortly after leading the Cadets to their first-ever Patriot League title and an automatic bid in the NCAA Tournament. She was named Patriot League coach of the year as the Black Knights went 20-11 overall and 11-3 in the league.The Cadets will open their season Nov. 12 in the Maggie Dixon Classic, a men's-women's doubleheader, at Madison Square Garden. Army will play No. 7 Ohio State and the Pittsburgh men, coached by Maggie Dixon's brother Jamie, will play Western Michigan.
At the event, Dixon's parents will receive a championship ring and championship banners for Army's Patriot League title and Dixon's coach of the year honor will be unveiled. The banners will later be displayed permanently at West Point.The Black Knights, who return four starters, have been picked to finish first in a poll of the league's coaches and sports information directors.
