Rangers reportedly make offer to left-hander Zito

The biggest name left on the free-agent market finally has some numbers to examine.
The Texas Rangers have made a formal offer to left-hander Barry Zito, according to multiple media reports that cited club officials.
The team met with Zito and his agent Scott Boras two weeks ago. The Rangers have a meeting with another left-hander, Mark Mulder, scheduled for Tuesday. Mulder is coming off shoulder surgery.
Zito, who is reportedly also being courted by the Giants and Mets, was 16-10 last season witih a 3.83 ERA for the A's. He has spent his entire seven-year career in Oakland, winning a Cy Young award in 2002.
