Notre Dame's Needs
Adam Rittenberg takes a look at Notre Dame's most pressing recruiting needs entering the 2008 season:
The defensive line has suddenly become a critical area for the Irish, who knew they were losing standout end Trevor Laws but also could be without both Derrell Hand and Pat Kuntz. Hand reportedly has a hereditary disease in his spinal cord that could end his playing career. Kuntz, who had nine pass deflections at nose tackle last fall, isn't enrolled at Notre Dame for the spring semester and could miss the 2008 season. Notre Dame needs more playmakers at wide receiver to complement sophomores Duval Kamara and Golden Tate. Despite losing just one starter, the offensive line could certainly be bolstered after a miserable 2007 season. Linebacker will continue to be a recruiting priority in coordinator Corwin Brown's 3-4 system.
