Rank Player Comment

Chris Paul
New Orleans Hornets
Point Guard
Complete stats
Paul took a team that was not in the playoffs last year and has them near the top of the West now. He controls the game with the ball in his hands the entire time and gets it done on both ends. He averages more than 20 points and 11 assists and leads the league in steals. His poise and leadership combined with the fact that the Hornets are among the West's elite make CP3 the MVP.

Kevin Garnett
Boston Celtics
Power Forward
Complete stats
The Celtics had the greatest turnaround in NBA history in terms of wins (from 24 in 2006-'07 to 64-66 this year). Garnett took one of the worst defensive teams in the league and turned them into the best defensive team overnight. He brings versatility and leadership to a Boston team that has been the best in the league all season.

Kobe Bryant
Los Angeles Lakers
Shooting Guard
Complete stats
Kobe has produced one of his best all-around seasons. He has had higher scoring seasons in the past, but his maturity enabled him to manage this team. He's helped the younger guys, who have responed by embracing him. Kobe grew up a lot, and he's still the best all-around player in the game.

Dwight Howard
Orlando Magic
Center
Complete stats
Take a look at what Howard has meant to his team. The Magic have one of the best frontcourts in the league, and he is the anchor offensively and defensively. Orlando's success is a good story, and Howard has brought consistency to the table all season.

LeBron James
Cleveland Cavaliers
Small Forward
Complete stats
LeBron drops this far because his team hasn't played well. There probably isn't a player in the league that has to do more or is more responsible for his team's success. He took a bunch of role players to the Finals last year. Without LeBron, the Cavs would be a lottery team.
