Balls Made Of Crystal

For what was supposed to be a tame day of practice at the Home Depot Center, turned out to be a pretty eventful one. The stacked field of riders broke in the Freestyle Moto course and the Freestyle Moto course broke in some of the riders. With two practice sessions under their belts, the boys were able to figure out the tech course and make sense of the flow. In my eyes, which posses far from 20/20 vision, Mat Rebeaud, Twitch and Maddo handled the course with the most authority. While the second practice session was going down, Ricky Carmichael decided to come out and play with the boys, revealing that he has indeed been added to Moto X Best Whip and will be mixing it up and getting sideways with the likes of Ronnie Renner, Todd Potter, Josh Grant, Chuck Carothers and Myles Richmond.

Ricky got whips.

Starting at 7 pm, X Games 14 will have officially began according to us moto freaks. Kyle Loza, Jim DeChamp, Nate Adams, Scott Murray, Jeremy Lusk, Thomas Pages, Todd Potter, Mat Rebeaud, Blake Williams and Jim Mcneil will all be patiently, yet nervously sitting inside the Staples Center waiting to throw down for Best Trick. I wish I could tell you what tricks to look for and give you some type of inside line, but to tell you the truth, this one's gonna be too hard to call. However, I can guarantee you that you'll be witnessing history in the making. The big talk of the town is Jim DeChamp and his front flip, which if he pulls, has a very good chance at taking home the gold. But, it's too early to call it, let alone leave out Kyle Loza and his Electric Doom, Blake Williams and his nasty 360 combos, Jeremy Lusk and his massive double grab flips and the list goes on.

Rebeaud got skills.

Immediately after Best Trick wraps up and the clock strikes 9:15 p.m., it'll be time for the boys to get sideways and flash their skid plates as Biggest Whip kicks into high gear. I'm not exactly sure as to how this event will be judged, but from what I understand, the crowd will have the last say in determining the winner. EXPN photographer, Chris Tedesco thinks that Ricky Carmichael has it in the bag, but I beg to differ. I know for a fact that all the riders have amazing whips, but I feel that the most impressive whip will be thrown by none other than Metal Mulisha's Todd Potter. Only time will tell, but I'm going with P-Funk on this one, because a Potter whip never gets old! That's it for now, but be sure to stay tuned because like I said—once that clock strikes 7 p.m.—IT'S ON!
