|"An action-packed day"|
Jarrod Washburn spins a wild tale about his most memorable day in the field last year, tracking whitetail in Iowa and he didn't even get off a shot.
"Just so many things happened that day that amazed me," Washburn explained.
"Sometimes you go out one day to go hunting and you see things that you would never dream that you were going to see.
"I was standing out in the middle of a field and walking back to my truck, because I wanted to scout this new area. I was just walking in the middle of a pasture.
There were no high weeds or nothing blocking the view, and this buck stood up he was just a little buck and he stepped out into the field and he was about 80 yards from me. And he looked at me, and I don't know what he thought I was, but he started walking right at me. And he walked up to five or six yards away from me before I yelled at him and told him to get away. I thought maybe he was going to charge me or something.
"Then about a half-hour later, the same thing happened with a nice eight-pointer. And then I saw bucks that were chasing the does all over that day. All in all, it was an action-packed day. Then my buddy shot a nice 11-pointer, so "
Why didn't you draw on either buck that approached you?
"I don't know; it was just neat to watch. Sometimes I just like to sit back and watch."
You get the hunch Washburn has another story or two he's not telling.
"I can talk about hunting anytime, all day," he said.
