CHAZ ORTIZ BECOMES YOUNGEST TO TAKE 1ST PLACE IN AST DEW TOUR HISTORY

Carlsbad, CAChaz Ortiz became the youngest competitor to take 1st place in the skate park competition at 14-years-old making AST Dew Tour history this past Saturday in Salt Lake City, Utah at the Toyota Challenge. The Toyota Challenge delivered record breaking numbers for the skate park finals and Ortiz secured his place in AST Dew Tour history and took home his first pro contest win in front of 25,996 fans.
Ortiz, a Chicago native and an AST Dew Tour rookie, started the 2008 season placing in the top three in Baltimore and followed up with a 2nd place finish at the AST's second stop in Cleveland, showing that he is a force to be reckoned with. Ortiz went trick to trick with three time defending Dew Cup champion, Ryan Sheckler, and sealed the win during the jam session landing a kickflip front board slide to a kickflip flip out earning him a score of 93.05. Saturday's win launched Ortiz into the 2nd place overall points standing for the Dew Cup with 330 points, a mere eight points behind Sheckler. Fellow WMG athlete, Paul Rodriguez, follows closely behind Ortiz with 323 points overall.
"I am honored to win a major event like Dew Tour. Skating against Ryan and Paul always pushes me to try my best and I am really happy," Ortiz said regarding his first pro contest win. Ortiz received a nomination for the PlayStation Moment for his amazing kick flip front board kick flip out in Salt Lake City so vote for your favorite PlayStation Moment.
The final stop of the AST Dew Tour commences in Orlando, Florida next month with the PlayStation Pro, October 16th-19th, which will prove to be a close finale in deciding the next Dew Cup winner.
