Destiny Williams of Benton Harbor, Mich., has verballed to Illinois, giving coach Jolette Law her third 2009 commitment from among the top 36 recruits in the ESPN HoopGurlz 100.
Ranked No. 8 nationally, Williams chose Illinois over Georgia, Louisville, Maryland, Ohio State and Western Michigan according to Emez Oliver, her coach with the Michigan Crossover club team.

Williams joins Karisma Penn of Shaker Heights, Ohio, the No. 18 prospect, and Adrienne GodBold of Chicago, the No. 36 prospect, among ranked recruits in Illinois' 2009 signing class. Recruits can begin signing National Letters of Intent starting Wednesday and continue through Nov. 19.
Illinois also has commitments from Briana Jones, a highly regarded forward from Toldeo, Ohio; Kersten Magrum, a forward from New Lenox, Ill., and Amber Moore, a guard from Detroit. Illinois joins Cal, North Carolina and Virginia as the only schools with at least three commitments from recruits ranked in the top 40 of the ESPN HoopGurlz 100.
Williams, 6-foot-3, is an extremely versatile and athletic forward who can be relentless and effective in the painted area, but also has polished ballhandling and passing skills from the perimeter. She and Penn are a dynamic, front-line duo, while GodBold provides a similar package from the backcourt.
