Cover Me, I'm Going In
Working at Transworld for as long as I did (I was a design/photo rat) I know that Editor Donn Maeda loves FMX, but rarely uses an FMX image for the cover. Previous Photo Editor and EXPN contributor Garth Milan would always push for an FMX cover, but Donn always put up a good counter fight. I'm guessing the reason for this is because Transworld has developed a huge race following, so race images tend to sell better on the newsstand, but in my humble opinion, FMX covers look soooo much doper. Sure a berm shot or a boner air is cool looking, but I don't think it has the same umph as a bangin' ass FMX trick shot.
Well, for the January 2009 issue, Donn broke down and hooked up newly crowned FMX Rider of the YearJeremy Lusk with his first major cover. The shot was snapped by our very own Chris Tedesco and it be looking F-R-E-S-H! Congrats to you Mr. Lusk. It's been a long time coming, but you paid your dues and now you get to reap the benefits.
One of the better Transworld covers in a while. Don't you agree?
