Francisco agrees to $1.6M deal with Texas Rangers

Associated Press

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Relief pitcher Frank Francisco has agreed to a $1.6 million, one-year contract with the Texas Rangers.

Francisco went 3-5 with five saves and a 3.13 ERA last season in 58 appearances. He took over as the Rangers' closer on Aug. 25 and didn't allow an earned run in his final 11 appearances of the season, going for 5-for-5 in save chances.

Francisco made $775,000 last year and was eligible for arbitration before Monday's deal.
