5:53 p.m. PST: Well, here we are done with prelim Thursday. Today was prelims for both street and park, and although a lot of awesome riding went down, the day dragged on slower than some of my own flatland links. This was due to street prelims. Here's the scenario: three separate street sections against 12 riders, who get ten tries each on every section. I am not a mathematician, but well, it was a lot of tries on the street course, amounting to a qualifying round that lasted for approximately three hours and ten minutes. It was exhausting to watch, and that's just watching it. Imagine the athletes, who were giving it their all in the hot sun!

Regardless, there was a ton of good riding. Garrett Reynolds took the win, Nathan Williams took second and Van Homan landed in third. I gotta hand it to all twelve competitors though; they seriously gave it their all. As for some firsts, Corey Martinez landed a smooth as butter truckdriver to opposite smith grind and Kachinsky nollie icepicked the steep 12-stair. There was a lot more action, but I'll keep this brief since I know that no one reads anymore. Check the full results here.

After street, we had to run over to park, which after everything was said and done, ran smoother than any of us could have ever imagined. Riders flowed from one to the next, and everyone seemed to be enjoying the heightened flow of the new format. (Five riders, 15 minutes, 30 second runs each until the clock runs out.) In the end, Gary Young proved that he's got a third eye for concrete lines with a first place finish. In second was Rob Darden, and in third was Scotty Cranmer, who circumvented the majority of the concrete and stuck to the wooden section of the course for most of the comp. Check the full results here. And no, I don't know who Chris Dillewaard is.

Tomorrow, we've got finals for both street and big air. I'll be covering street from Home Depot Center, while Cody covers big air from the Staples Center. Good night and give it up for the pro street class. They will rest well tonight. - BT

5:53 p.m. PST: Park prelim results:

1. Gary Young
2. Rob Darden
3. Scotty Cranmer
4. Jerry Smith
5. Chase Hawk
6. Ryan Guettler
7. Diogo Canina
8. Daniel Dhers
9. Dennis Enarson
10. Corey Bohan
- BT

5:20 p.m. PST: Dhers says he's feeling much better today and pumped to ride. He broke his frame last night in practice doing a big transfer but got together a new one this morning. But ... he had to weld on his own brake cable stop on. Still, it should be good to go. - CY

5:13 p.m. PST: Morgan Wade: gap to ruben wallride attempt in the capsule. He looped out (again) but it was absolutlely nuts. Rob Darden just ruled his prelim heat. So far, he's in the lead. Park is nuts so far, and this is just the prelims.

- BT

5:00 p.m. PST: Morgan Wade is down after looping out on a 720. - BT

4:36 p.m. PST: At park prelims now. Morgan Wade has the gnarliest mustache on the course. And we just watched Scotty Cranmer's little brother take some runs around the course. He's only 11 years old and pulling no-footed can cans ...

- BT
Park prelims.

4:19 p.m. PST: Park elims getting started ... - BT

3:58 p.m. PST: Clickedbmx@ESPN_BMX: Tunney, if you were on a sinking ship with two broken legs, what powerhouse would you want to save you - Homan, Ross or Roche?

Van Homan will save us. - BT

3:44 p.m. PST: No surprise. Garrett Reynolds killed prelims and won. Here's how results shaped up:

1. Garrett Reynolds 2. Nathan Williams 3. Van Homan 4. Corey Martinez 5. Ty Morrow 6. Brian Kachinsky 7. Sean Sexton 8. Dakota Roche 9. Aaron Ross 10. Seth Kimbrough - BT

3:28 p.m. PST: From Chris via email: How do you think Mark Webb will do in the park contest? I also heard that Anthony Napolitan is going to double-frontflip the Mega Ramp ... is this true?

Mark Webb has been taking it easy in practice, so its hard to say. We're headed to prelims now though.

As for Anthony, those are the rumors we're hearing, but we don't know if they are true or not. - BT

3:28 p.m. PST: Clickedbmx@ESPN_BMX: What's the format for prelims? Are they taking on one section of the course at a time?

Yes. There's three sections to get through, and riders each get 10 tries on every section. With 12 riders to go through, it takes a long while to get through. - BT

3:09 p.m. PST: Jeff Z and I just reviewed what we saw taking pictures of the middle section and agreed that Dakota and Garrett both destroyed that part of the course. Everyone's now moving to the third and final area of the course. This is where the craziness is about to go down ...
Gonna get interesting ...
- CY

3:04 p.m. PST: The new format gives each rider 10 tries on each part of the course, and it's a little bit of overkill. Five tries would've been plenty, and now we're running an hour over and nowhere near done. There's good stuff happening, but it's still a grueling process that makes each rider work way too hard for their lines. Be back in a bit. - BT

2:37 p.m. PST: Check out the street elims video HERE.

2:18 p.m. PST: Melissa Freyermuth via email: Where is Rob Wise? Wasn't he invited?

Rob Wise was on the ballot, but unfortunately missed being selected by a view votes. - BT

2:15 p.m. PST: Aaron Ross blew up really hard trying to gap to over ice pick the ledges. Sean Sexton is currently on the leader board and threw down a flair over the trannie gap. The middle section is over and in a few minutes they're kicking off the final section with the big rails and gap to ledges all on the massive 12 stair. - CY

1:32 p.m. PST: Tunney here. I'm judging so I'm trying to do that AND blog ... ANYway, the first big rail session is done. Van Homan killed it and won the session with a wild gap to rail, a whip over the rail and several rail manny attempts. We're headed to the big mellow rail/stair set now. Prelims are absolutely nuts. More soon. Back to judging now. - BT

1:31 p.m. PST: Garrett Reynolds - Uprail to double barspin!

The course, of course.
Session one just ended with Garrett 180 barspinning over the round rail. Garrett, Van and Dakota killed the section of the course. Everyone taking a breif break and then moving on to the next portion of the course. WOW. - CY

1:20 p.m. PST: From Jafid Garcia via email: Where has Rick Thorn been all this time?

Thorne plays in a band called Good Guys in Black. They're on MySpace. - BT

1:05 p.m. PST: First heat is done. T-nez pulled a truckdriver to opposite smith. Kachinsky pulled a nollie to ice down the big rail, Ross did an uprail to manual to rail on the big set, and Nathan Williams flat out ruled with a perfect combination of tech and burly. Nathan is in the lead right now. - BT

1:05 p.m. PST: Corey Martinez just tried over to lucky grind on the round steep 12 stair! - CY

1:05 p.m. PST: Brian Kachinsky just nollied to icepicked a big rail. - BT

1:00 p.m. PST: Jyoung89, via email: Who do you personally think will take it? I'm split between Dakota Roche and Sean Sexton ... either way it's gonna be sick to watch everyone ride.

Hmm. I'd say Sexton but Garrett will probably win. I'd like to see Homan take it, too. We'll see! - CY

12:30 p.m. PST: Blast from the past. Rick Thorne, the biker in black, is announcing street. I'm about to judge, so I'm gonna hand it over to Cody right now. -BT

12:20 p.m. PST: We are at the street course ready to roll. Prelims are about a half hour away, and the course is full of warm up action. Not to mention media action. The Ride crew is on hand. Fat Tony is fatting up the course with his blubber and the decks are stacked with tm's eager to see their riders do well in prelims. Be back in a few. -BT

12:01 p.m. PST: It's the first day of X Games 15, and we are officially live. On deck for the day are prelims for both street and park. Street starts up in just a few minutes, and park goes down later in the afternoon. We're going to head on out to the street course in a few minutes and check the action. Look back in a few minutes for the latest from the street course. Time to sun block up now!
