Twins put Perkins on 15-day DL
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Twins have placed left-hander Glen Perkins on the 15-day disabled list with a left shoulder strain.
Minnesota manager Ron Gardenhire said Tuesday that another move will be made Wednesday to call up a Triple-A pitcher in time for that night's game.
Perkins (6-7), demoted from the starting rotation when the team acquired Carl Pavano last Friday, struggled to get loose before pitching one shutout inning Saturday, his first relief appearance after 17 starts.
Perkins went on the disabled list in May with left elbow inflammation, missing 26 games.
He was examined in July by noted specialist Dr. Lewis Yocum and was given medication for some slight tendinitis in his shoulder.
