Saying Good-bye to a Legend, R.I.P. Andy Kessler

The worst part of this job is reporting the passing of our heroes and pioneers.

On Wednesday, Andy Kessler, one of the original New York City/Zoo York skate and graffiti crew, died after suffering an allergic reaction to a bee sting out in Montauk, Long Island. Kessler was 49.

Not only was Kessler a tireless proponent of the NYC skate scene and community, but he also enjoyed surf trips out to the East End.

ESPN Action Sports' Mary Fenton has our official obit here. The local surfing community is sharing all sorts of great memories about Kessler on the New York Surf message board.

A Memorial Paddle for Kessler has been arranged for this Friday, 7 p.m. at Ditch Plains, Montauk, New York.
