McCoy named Big12 offensive player of the week
Texas quarterback Colt McCoy was named Big 12 offensive player of the week after completing 26 of 31 passes for 269 yards and three touchdowns in the Longhorns' 41-7 win at Missouri. McCoy had a 83.3 percent completion percentage, which included completed his first 11 passes. McCoy spread the ball around, finding eight different receivers.
Iowa State linebacker Jesse Smith was the Big 12 defensive player of the week. His teammate, punter Mike Brandtner was the special teams player of the week as he ran 20 yards on a fake punt to set up Iowa State for the 9-7 win.
