The parade, scheduled for Friday will begin on Broadway at Battery Place at 11 a.m. and continue northbound up the Canyon of Heroes to City Hall Plaza where Mayor Michael Bloomberg will present the Bronx Bombers with the keys to the city.
Hideki Matsui's record-tying six RBIs helped the Yankees to the 7-3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. New York won the series 4-2.
"The 2009 New York Yankees proved that we are the best in baseball," team owner George Steinbrenner said in a statement. "We beat truly worthy opponents in the American League Division Series, the American League Championship Series and the World Series. As we did all season long, we fought hard, never lost focus and gave a true team victory. Our players have a lot to be proud of."
Yankees fans had waited nine years since the team's previous World Series title, a Subway Series against their crosstown rivals, the Mets, in 2000.
"We are so grateful to our fans," Steinbrenner said. "They have never wavered in their faith or enthusiasm through the good and bad years. We'll enjoy this win. And the quest for number 28 begins."
