Westbrook held out vs. Cowboys
By Adam Schefter
Eagles running back Brian Westbrook will not play in an NFC East divisional showdown between Philadelphia and Dallas, according to a team doctor.
Westbrook began experiencing symptoms of a mild headache on Friday afternoon and was reevaluated. All tests were negative, but team doctors decided it was best to hold him out and rest him for the week.
"We all thought it would be in the best interests of Brian and the team that he should be deactivated for tonight's game," Eagles head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder said. "We will continue to evaluate Brian this week."
Westbrook suffered a concussion two weeks ago against the Washington Redskins.
Many assumed that, after missing last week's game, Westbrook would play Sunday night against the Cowboys even though he was listed as questionable.
Without Westbrook, rookie second-round pick LeSean McCoy once again will start at running back.
