Baylor's Florence, A&M's Gray grab B12 honors


A couple of Dallas-area players earned Big 12 honors this week.

Baylor freshman quarterback Nick Florence, from Garland, was named the Big 12 offensive player of the week for his efforts in Baylor's 40-32 win at Missouri. Florence was 32-for-43 passing for 427 yards and no interceptions. Florence threw for three touchdowns and scored another rushing. He helped Baylor in an 11-game road Big 12 losing streak.

Texas A&M sophomore kick returner Cyrus Gray, from DeSoto, was the Big 12 special teams player of the week. He had 181 yards on four kick returns in the Aggies' one-point loss at Colorado. He had a 99-yard return for a touchdown in the second quarter and returned one 45 yards in the fourth quarter to set up Texas A&M's final score.

Nebraska senior safety Matt O'Hanlon was the defensive player of the week.
