OSU's Cox is Big 12 defensive player of the week
Oklahoma State defensive back Perrish Cox, from Waco, was named Big 12 defensive player of the week for his performance in the Cowboys' 24-17 win over Texas Tech.
Cox had two interceptions, broke up three passes and had four tackles, including one for a loss. Cox leads the nation in passes defended and is a semifinalist for the Thorpe Award.
"He's done a great job for us," OSU coach Mike Gundy said on his Monday conference call. "He's been terrific in the secondary and is always a threat in the return game. He's been a leader for us and helped bring our young players along."
Missouri receiver Denario Alexander (from Marlin, Texas) was offensive player of the week, and Kansas State kicker Josh Cherry was special teams player of the week.
