The Chicago Cubs signed five of their arbitration-eligible players on Tuesday.
The five Cubs who signed are infielder Mike Fontenot [$1 million], infielder Jeff Baker [$975,000]; catcher Koyie Hill [$700,000]; pitcher Tom Gorzelanny [$800,000]; and reliever Angel Guzman [$825,000].
Meanwhile, the Chicago White Sox signed left-handed starting pitcher John Danks to a one-year, $3.45 million deal to avoid arbitration.
The Cubs have filed on Carlos Marmol, Sean Marshall and Ryan Theriot. The players' numbers and team's numbers will come out at 2 p.m. CT.
Fontenot batted .236 with nine home runs and 43 runs batted in. Baker batted .305 with four home runs and 21 RBIs in 69 games with the Cubs last season.
Hill batted .237 in a career-high 253 at-bats last season. Gorzelanny appeared in 13 games, including seven starts, going 4-2 with a 5.63 ERA after being acquired with John Grabow from the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 30. Guzman was 3-3 with a 2.95 ERA in a career-high 55 games last season.
