Teater, Tidland get traditional invitations
Josh Teater and Chris Tidland were awarded the traditional champions' choices and will compete in the Crowne Invitational at Colonial May 27-30 in Fort Worth, Texas.
The 37-year-old Tidland, who tied for ninth place at the Honda Classic, finished sixth on the Nationwide Tour in 2009. Teater, 31, is a rookie on the PGA Tour and finished in a tie for fifth at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Past Colonial champions traditionally extend invitations to two golfers who have never before been eligible to compete in the event, which has a $6.2 million purse this year.
Past champions' choices include Davis Love III, Paul Azinger, Billy Mayfair, Mark O'Meara, Curtis Strange and Stewart Cink. Of the 111 invitations extended, 66 players have won on the PGA Tour, combining for 366 wins and 23 majors.
Other sponsor exemptions to this year's Colonial include John Daly, Martin Flores and Matt Every.
