Singletary rooting for Sharks in West
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Mike Singletary knows how it feels to win a championship in Chicago, but his loyalties now lie in the Bay Area.
The San Francisco 49ers coach told the San Jose Mercury News that he's pulling for the San Jose Sharks against the Chicago Blackhawks in the Western Conference finals.
"I will always, always love the Chicago Bears for what they did for me. But do I follow the Bears? Do I follow the Bulls? No, I do not," Singletary told the Mercury News.
"I know the coach, Coach Todd [McLellan] at the Sharks. He and I have talked a number of times. I'm a huge fan of him and his team. As a matter of fact, I called him the other day and just told him best of luck. I was there cheering for the Sharks the other night."
Singletary, one of the stars of the 1986 Super Bowl champions, told the newspaper he is still learning about hockey and became hooked on it through his youngest son.
