Top things you need to know about John Wooden

Former UCLA basketball coach and Hall of Famer John Wooden is hospitalized at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and resting comfortably, the university said in a statement Friday. Wooden was admitted to the hospital on May 26 due to dehydration, the school said. At the request of the family, no other information his condition will be released.

So we started thinking about some of his accomplishments:


• Never had a losing season in 29 years as a head coach

• 4 undefeated seasons

• NCAA-record 16 Final Four appearances (9 straight) and 21 Final Four wins

• NCAA-record 10 NCAA Championships (7 straight)

• NCAA-record 88-game winning streak from 1971-74

• First person enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame as both a player and coach
