Horned Frogs blast away
OMAHA, Neb. -- Matt Curry just launched what might end up as the biggest hit in TCU history.
With his team trailing Florida State 7-4 in the eighth inning of a College World Series elimination game, the Horned Frogs slugger changed the course of events with a grand slam. Curry rocketed a 3-2 fastball from Mike McGee over the batter's eye in center field, setting off a wild celebration in his dugout and at home plate.
Two batters later, Jantzen Witte blasted a two-run homer to make it 11-7. TCU scored eight runs in the eighth inning, all of which were unearned because of an error by third baseman Sherman Johnson to open the frame. Seven of the runs came after there were two outs.
If FSU does not come back, it has only itself to blame. The Seminoles have committed five errors, leading to 10 unearned runs in this game.
