Greenwald named speedskating director
KEARNS, Utah -- Two-time Olympian Mark Greenwald has agreed to become the executive director of US Speedskating.
Greenwald replaces Bob Crowley, who resigned two weeks after the Americans fell short of medal goals and expectations at the Vancouver Olympics.
US Speedskating president Brad Goskowicz says in Tuesday's release that Greenwald's experience as an athlete and executive at the Calgary Olympic Oval made him the top choice to rebuild the American long track program and continue the success of U.S. short track skaters.
Greenwald competed for the U.S. team in the 1988 and 1992 Olympics.
American speedskaters won 10 medals in Vancouver, two short of US Speedskating's goal.
