Justin 'Figgy' Figueroa has been putting his time in and chomping rails for Emerica and Baker skateboard for years now and so it came as no surprise that with the release of Emerica's long awaited DVD, "Stay Gold," that Figgy got the bump up to the pro ranks. I caught up with him to see how life has changed and from the sounds of things it's just another day at the office for Justin.

How has your life changed from turning pro last week?
It's pretty leisure: posting up, partying and having a good time with the homies.
How did they tell you that you were going pro?
After the vid, we took a party bus to the next bar and then I showed up and there were all these posters and signs and Andrew Reynolds was right there and handed me the board. It was a shocker fest.
You really didn't know in advance?
No. I had some weird people coming up to me and saying, "Congratulations," but I thought they were talking about the video. They probably just were. I had some weird ones and I look back now and I know that people knew and they were trying to keep it a surprise. It was tight.
What did you do when Reynolds handed you the deck?
It was tight. I freaked out. I had a blast that night. Probably the best night I'm gonna live in this life.
What are you going to do with your first pro check?
I don't know. Probably go hang out with the homies and party.
You're not going to fix that nose of yours?
No, that's not fixable. We can't go back on that. There's no helping that guy. It's all good.
Look at Ashlee Simpson, though.
Fool, I ain't sick like that!

You can get rid of that elephant honker and become a handsome man.
I'm going to keep the dream alive and rock this look for a little bit longer and then we'll decide from there.
I'm proud of you because I too have a very big nose and I'm glad you're sticking with it.
We're doing it big, dawg! That's how we do it!
On real windy days when you're trying to skate does the wind catch hold of your nostrils and lift you off the ground?
No, nothing like that, but I'll definitely get all crusty as hell and it's annoying.
Are you happy with the way your video part turned out?
Yeah, I worked my butt off. I'm psyched. It's well done. I can relax for some months and keep it leisure and post up. I'm thrilled.
What was your favorite part in the video?
Reynolds. He has the gnarliest video part to ever be made and it'll probably stay that way for a long time too.
Who had the worst part?
Me, definitely me. All the rest of those fools nailed it. Everyone killed.

Is Heath Kirchart really retiring?
That is a true rumor. It's definitely real. But he's going out like a champ. He's not trying to hang onto the dream like some people. He could keep up if he wanted but he's good to go.
But that's the thing, there's so many guys still milking it and that guy still rips.
Yeah, but that fool is the smartest fool with money. He kills it all the way around. He's probably been planning this for years. Who knows what that fool has under his sleeve? He did skate the MegaRamp in his part and I can definitely see him trying to keep that dream alive which would be amazing.
So you're saying there's a chance Heath might be in next year's X Games Big Air contest?
I don't know about all that, but who knows? If he keeps trying to skate that stuff, maybe.
How would you do in a fight against Darren Harper?
Not as good as Stevie Williams. That's for damn sure. I would definitely get my face stomped on which would be kind of tight.
