Fire names Julian Posada president
The Chicago Fire announced Thursday that Julian Posada has been appointed team president and will lead the strategic planning and overall management of the club and stadium operations.
"I've been very fortunate to have experienced many exciting opportunities and challenges throughout my career. As a soccer fan and as an entrepreneur, joining the Fire was an opportunity that I simply couldn't pass up," Posada said in a statement.
"There is so much opportunity to grow the Fire in the Chicago market, given the high-level of play and the passionate fan base. I'm especially grateful to [Fire owner] Andrew [Hauptman] for the faith he has extended to me, and I am committed to not letting him or the Fire down," he added.
Posada had been serving as the general manager for Hoy, a Spanish daily newspaper in Chicago. He also helped launch Hoy in Los Angeles.
The Fire (6-8-8) currently sit in fifth place in the Eastern Conference and visit Real Salt Lake (12-4-8) Saturday.
