Jonny Flynn to miss first week of season

Associated Press

MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Jonny Flynn likely will miss the first week of the season while he works his way back from hip surgery, team president David Kahn said.

Kahn says Flynn is progressing well, but the team doesn't want to rush him. Flynn had the surgery on his left hip in July and was expected to miss three to four months. Kahn says Flynn will not play in a game for the Wolves until November.

The season begins on Oct. 27.

Rookie forward Wes Johnson has been hampered by a hamstring injury for most of the summer. Johnson was hurt in July and aggravated the injury earlier this month.

Coach Kurt Rambis says Johnson will likely be limited to one practice a day early in training camp, which begins on Saturday.
