Former Boston Bruin and unrestricted free agent Bill Guerin was in the press box Thursday night watching the Maple Leafs-Bruins game with another former Bruin and Pittsburgh Penguins assistant general manager Tom Fitzgerald.

Guerin, who finished last season with 21 goals and 24 assists, has yet to sign. He acknowledged retirement could come sooner than he may have liked or expected, he has not made that decision yet.

For now, the two-time Stanley Cup champion is content to wait it out a bit more and see if a title contender decides his extensive resume, that includes 429 goals and 856 points in 1,263 games, is worth a shot.

"I haven't made any decisions yet and we're still seeing what happens here," Guerin told ESPNBoston.com. "I'm not there yet where I can say this is it."

Guerin, who turns 40 on Nov. 9, wouldn't say if the Bruins were interested but a source said Boston was not currently in the mix. But in the event Guerin fails to sign, he is starting to explore job options should he decide to hang up his skates.

"Fitzy's been good enough to take me around with him and I'm seeing what it's like to possibly scout and look at the game from another view," Guerin said. "I definitely want to stay involved with the game. But right now, I'm not at that point yet, just keeping my options open."
