Los Angeles Kings left wing Scott Parse will undergo surgery on his hip and will be out until February, general manager Dean Lombardi said during practice Tuesday.

Parse missed the first 11 games this season recuperating from the injury, which occurred during training camp. He scored his first goal of the season Monday night in a 6-3 loss at San Jose. Parse had been playing on the top line with center Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown.

"You could see last night he can't stop and go," Lombardi said.

Also, rookie Brayden Schenn has been sent to the team's AHL affiliate in Manchester for conditioning purposes, Lombardi said. Schenn can stay in Manchester for up to 14 days before he must be recalled or sent to his junior team.

"That's all he needs," Lombardi said.

Alexei Ponikarovsky, out since last week with a broken finger, was officially placed on injured reserve. In his place, the Kings called up 22-year-old left wing Dwight King from Manchester.
