BCS concludes selections with pairings
Bowl Championship Series -- Dec. 5, 2010
The BCS group today noted the teams that have been selected for play in the BCS bowl games, which are the Rose Bowl presented by VIZIO, the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, the Discover Orange Bowl, the Allstate Sugar Bowl, and the Tostitos BCS National Championship Game.
"This is one of the best days in college football, and I want to congratulate all the teams who will play in a BCS game, and all the teams who will play in other bowl games this season. For nearly every student-athlete, playing in a BCS bowl game is the No. 1 goal, because it is often the highlight of their careers. This may be why 93 percent of coaches and 70 percent of student-athletes favor the traditional bowl system over a playoff.
"Once again, the BCS has delivered. It has matched the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the championship game, while delivering outstanding matchups featuring eight other top teams from around the country. It's also preserved the most exciting and dynamic regular season in all of sports," said Bill Hancock, Executive Director of the BCS.
